Wengen, Walking & Hiking

There are over 500 kilometres of marked walking trails throughout the Jungfrau region. Some lead onto high exposed peaks while others wind through serene densely packed forests, cross rivers and gorges on rickety rope suspended bridges, pass under tumbling waterfalls hundreds of feet high and skirt the shores of placid mountain lakes. The landscapes are wild and varied, spectacular and magnificent, all of the above and much more.

The region abounds with flora and fauna of many varieties all presented with the spectacular backdrop of the Eiger, Jungfrau, Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Monch. Dally a while at a mountain hut and watch another form of wildlife – climbers taking on the north face of the Eiger or sit by a clear pool of fresh mountain water while enjoying the cooling spray from one of the Lauterbrunnen Valley’s many magnificent waterfalls.

Wengen is simply a hiker’s paradise with numerous walks of varying length and degree of difficulty through some of Switzerland’s most beautiful scenery. There really is something here for everyone with short strolls of no longer than an hour through flower filled alpine meadows to alpine epics lasting several days.
