Val Di Fassa, Walking & H...

Val di Fassa is set smack in the middle of the Dolomites which is a huge advantage when it comes to tapping the vast array of walking itineraries this region of Northern Italy has to offer. Some stats tell us that the distance covered by marked hiking trails in this part of the Dolomites is about 1000 kilometres but that depends on where the boundaries are set. For those with boots there are no boundaries!

This case is proven by the fact that Val di Fassa sits along the course of two major long distance walking trails, Il Trekking Delle Leggende and the Via Alpina. Trekking Delle Leggende is a 200 kilometre hike that takes in Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and San Martino, all of which are located in this neck of the woods. Via Alpina on the other hand is a trans-national epic that passes through six European countries and two principalities depending on which route is taken. The trail starts in Trieste on Italy’s Adriatic coast and finishes in the principality of Monaco in the Southeast of France.

However, with plenty of testing treks tempting seasoned hill walkers and numerous family friendly ambles on offer right here in Val di Fassa there really isn’t any need to traipse off anywhere else. And with scenery as beautiful as it is in Val di Fassa visitors won’t be too concerned with what lies beyond either.
