Selva Val Gardena, Walking &a...

Throughout Val Gardena and the surrounding areas including the Gruppo Del Sella Massif there are an incredibly diverse number of walking routes. These come in many guises from high altitude scrambles over exposed peaks to gentle trails through secluded valleys.

Walks can be undertaken under your own steam or as part of a guided tour. The local tourist office provides official walking maps and details of pre-arranged guide led walking tours.

Those with a car will benefit from being able to travel to nearby Marmolada, the highest mountain in the dolomites or Alpe di Siusi, an expansive flower filled alpine plateau just a few miles down the road. Alpe di Siusi can also be easily reached on bike or by taking a bus to Ortisei, another of the Val Gardena villages.

Visitors can subscribe to the ‘Aiut Alpin Dolomites’ mountain rescue service which operates a helicopter rescue service that is free of charge to subscribers. The subscription cost is around 30 Euros per person per annum or 50 Euros for family cover. Well worth it if only for piece of mind.
