Alpe d'Huez, Walking & Hi...

With high alpine ridges, plunging gorges, rolling meadows, shady woods and icy peaks Alpe d’Huez serves up a formidable feast for hikers. From the exposed pinnacle that is the summit of Pic Blanc to the wide grassy meadows of the Oisans valley below there are over 230 km of marked walking trails and countless more hectares of alpine wilderness for hikers to explore.

The local tourist office has drawn up a map showcasing 13 themed walks of varying length. Most of the trails begin near to the resort itself while others spring from the top or bottom of a ski lift. Some are very short and act as a great introduction to the sport for aspiring hikers while others offer up a good challenge and will take a significant portion of a day to complete.
