Beginners will find the long green runs on both the Eggalm and Rastkogel are just what they need to get started. After that they will find that most of the suitable terrain for improvers is on the Rastkogel in the form of long wide blue runs.

The only problem you’ll have is deciding where to go. The choices are so numerous you cannot count them on two hands let alone one. Every area is worth visiting and all you have to do is work out how to get there. The frequent bus and train services should make this relatively easy.

This area for its size does not offer up too many black runs but what it does have is lots of easily accessible off-piste. The Penken has plenty of tree skiing as does Gerlos and Zell am Ziller. Kaltenbach (Hochzillertal) and Hochfugen both have easily accessible off-piste and so does the Hintertux glacier which really should only be attempted with a guide.
