Mayrhofen, Skiing & Snowb...

As part of the Ski & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 ski area and also covered on the Super Zillertal ski pass riders have access to 620kms of marked piste, 233kms of those being on your immediate doorstep.

Revellers can ride the wide open autobahns of the Hintertux Glacier at one end of the area or the steep and deep of Hochfugen at the other and several places in between.

In Mayrhofen there are five ski and snowboard schools so you should have no problem finding an instructor to guide you through the technical tapestry that is snow sport. Once you have selected your god you will be whisked up either the Penken or the Ahorn where plenty of gentle slopes await you. In no time at all you will be barrelling down a ski weg (forest track) thinking you are in a James Bond film. Shaken, not stirred.

Well where shall we go today? That will be your only problem - deciding where to go. Every area is worth visiting and all you have to do is work out how to get there. The frequent bus and train services should make this relatively easy.

This area for its size does not offer up too many black runs but what it does have is lots of easily accessible off-piste. The Penken has plenty of tree skiing as does Gerlos and Zell am Ziller. Kaltenbach (Hochzillertal) and Hochfugen both have easily accessible off-piste and so does the Hintertux glacier which really should only be attempted with a guide as.
