There are several nursery slopes at the edge of the village below Les Chavannes with more on offer at the top of the Chavannes lift. With lots of gentle blue runs leading through the trees Les Gets is ideal for progressing beginners. Both British and French ski and snowboard schools operate out of Les Gets and promise beginners a flying start.

Being part of the Portes du Soleil means that the opportunities for intermediates are seemingly limitless. However Les Gets is at one end of the linked circuit so you need to be on your toes if you want to make it all the way to Chatel/Torgon and back in time for the last lift from Morzine. The immediate area, with 110 kilometers of marked pistes offers some very pleasant blue and red graded runs through the trees. That gives you plenty of scope for building up your stamina before you take on the circuit. On a sunny day head for Avoriaz which is home to many wide open cruising runs above the tree line.

Les Gets is a good place to be after fresh snowfall as is Avoriaz. Both these sectors have areas prone to avalanche so no buts, hire a guide. Off the back of Mont-Chery there are three marked black pistes with another leading all the way back to the village. Of course that is just the tip of the iceberg as throughout the Portes de Soleil region advanced riders have more than 28 black runs to test themselves on.

Freestylers are well catered for with a terrain park and skier/boardercross track on Mont-Chery just above Les Gets. On top of that there are the terrain parks and superpipe in the Avoriaz sector.
