Les Deux Alpes, Skiing & ...

Mountain Biking is a fairly recent addition to Les 2 Alpes arsenal of outdoor adventure sports. But the sport has grown up pretty quickly. The trails that have been constructed to French Cycling Federation (FFC) standards cover a total of 127 kilometers. There are 16 XC (cross-country) trails, 20 downhill courses and a bike park. Some are tough and testing while others are a walk (cycle) in the park. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or an occasional peddler you should find one or two routes right up your street.

In June Les 2 Alpes usually plays host to the Mondial du VTT Exhibition. Besides the companies and products on display, the exhibition will feature a variety of competition events including 4Cross, downhill and XC. Most competitions are open to everyone and a prize fund is offered to the winners.

Beginner

ski rating

With numerous tows serving the gentle nursery slopes along the village edge beginners won’t have to travel far to get going. Following that beginners are whisked up to the Glacier du Mont de Lans to continue their sliding education. Here they can enjoy the impressive views while gliding around.

Intermediate

ski rating

However you prefer to write it, Les Deux Alpes or Les 2 Alpes, intermediates certainly won’t write off this resort. About seventy percent of the runs are graded easy or intermediate and with guaranteed snow on the glacier you really can’t go wrong. Be sure to save some energy for the home runs which can prove a challenge at the end of a hard day.

Advanced

ski rating

Advanced and expert riders really shouldn’t be left wanting here. For one there are a considerable number of on-piste challenges with twenty-nine runs being graded difficult by the resort officials. Secondly, the slopes above La Grave provide some of the most outstanding back country riding in the region. The terrain is glaciated and described by some as true climbing territory. With that in mind, a jaunt to La Grave should really only be tackled with a local guide.

Freestyle, Skier and BoarderCross

ski rating

Les Deux Alpes provides a pretty descent terrain park with all the bells and whistles. There’s also a cross track for some helter skelter action plus a half pipe for the smokers.
