Flaine, Skiing & Snowboar...

Flaine is the central hub within Le Grand Massif, reputed to be France’s fourth largest ski and snowboard area with over 265 kilometers of marked pistes. The riding is extensive both on and off-piste and there is terrain suited to skiers and snowboarders of all levels.

Flaine is a popular destination for families as kids can be booked into ski school from as young as three years old. The wide gentle nursery slopes are located beside the village which makes the journey to school in the morning relatively effortless. From many accommodations it is simply a case of clicking in and sliding to wherever you want to go.

Beginner

For absolute beginners there are some free lifts in the village on which they can taste the experience before progressing up the mountain. With several wide and gentle blue runs on which to build confidence beginners should be gliding down the mountain with some proficiency in no time at all.

Intermediate

With over one hundred runs graded either blue or red the intermediate rider is simply spoiled for choice. The slopes range from wide and gentle to steep and challenging encompassing a wide variety of terrain from the open sunny slopes of Grand Platieres to tree lined routes down to Morillon and the other satellite villages.

Advanced

Advanced riders will relish the on and off-piste pleasures that await them. With over fifteen black runs accompanied by some reasonably challenging reds, piste-bashers will find enough to keep them going for quite sometime. There is also numerous back country trails throughout Le Grand Massif. To make the most of it you could hook up with a guide.

Freestyle, Skier and BoarderCross

Le Grand Massif offers three Jampark’s for freestylers, two for all and one specifically set aside for kids aged between 5 and 12 years. Beyond the park the back country has some excellent natural hits including some sizable drop offs.
