Champery, Skiing & Snowbo...

The Portes du Soleil ski region takes in resorts on both sides of the Swiss French border. In total there are 650 kilometers of piste most of which are linked by lift. Champery itself is an excellent base from which to explore the practicably reachable sections of the linked ski domain being that it is relatively central. The slopes immediately above Champery are accessed primarily by cable car with no easy runs returning to the village itself which means for many it’s a cable car ride back off the mountain too. A couple of red routes lead down to the valley floor from where it is a short bus ride back to the village.

Beginner

ski rating

First timers are introduced to sliding sports up on Planachaux where there are several wide and gentle blue runs. Within a week confident riders should be able to travel to the slopes above Morgins and back.

Intermediate

ski rating

Champery is an ideal base for intermediates looking to explore the vast tracts of the Portes du Soleil. Test how fast you are and see if you can make it to and back from Les Gets beyond Morzine or Torgon in the opposite direction beyond Chatel in a day. On any journey throughout the Portes du Soleil intermediates will be entertained on a selection of testing reds and cruisy blues. Rip it up!

Advanced

ski rating

For advanced riders some of the best sport is found just over the hill in Avoriaz. But, don’t limit yourself to the immediate locale as the Portes du Soleil offers plenty of adventure for those willing to seek it out. The off-piste opportunities are almost limitless and there is plenty to challenge the piste-basher too. Bump freaks want to try out the Wall (of course only after taking out BUPA Knee Care).

Freestyle, Skier and BoarderCross

ski rating

The Portes du Soleil region is littered with parks and natural features. Avoriaz particularly is a long time established freestyle zone and things just keep getting better.
