Being that Bad Kleinkirchheim is home to one of the worlds most famous ski racers, namely Franz Klammer, you could be forgiven for imagining that the runs here are likely to be steep and icy, of the sort that instil terror into hearts of even the bravest of extreme skiers. But you would be very very wrong!
On the contrary the slopes above Bad Kleinkirchheim and St. Oswald are really rather tame compared to the likes of Kitzbuhel’s Hahnenkamm – the infamous piste where Klammer famously made his name by winning a record five times.
That’s not to say that skiers and snowboarders won’t be challenged here either. The fact is that the pistes here are excellent for beginners and intermediates looking to build up confidence while those looking to push it that little bit further can do so on some of the tougher reds. The resort also features on the world cup circuit. Check out the FIS racing calendar for details of event dates.
