Arabba, Skiing & Snowboar...

Arabba provides access to some of the highest and most challenging skiing on the Sella Ronda and is smack bang in the middle of the greater Dolomiti Superski area. It is linked by lift to Marmolada the highest mountain in the dolomites as well as the neighbouring snow sport areas of Val di Fassa, Alta Badia and Val Gardena. It is, certainly for those that can already ski or board a magnificent destination for snowsports fans.

Beginner

ski rating

Arabba is marginally better than neighbouring Marmolada for beginners with one nursery tow in the village and three more blue runs that can be easily accessed from further up the mountain. One problem for beginners is that their primary slope is situated on the only route into Arabba from Alta Badia and as such experiences all of the Sella Ronda traffic heading in a clockwise direction.
These problems can be negated if you have a car and can drive to Passo Campolongo or Corvara where there is more suitable terrain for beginners. Corvara is 10 kilometers from Arabba just beyond Passo Campolongo.

Intermediate

ski rating

Intermediates will be able to test their metal on the challenging slopes of Marmolada and Arabba or take off in either direction on the famous Sella Ronda circuit. The Sella Ronda is a 26 kilometre tour that circumnavigates the Gruppo Del Sella Massif taking in the ski areas of Alta Badia, Val Gardena and Val di Fassa en route. It can be tackled in either direction and holders of the Dolomiti Superski area pass have access to the lift systems of each sector. This is intermediate heaven.

Advanced

ski rating

Advanced riders will relish the fields of powder that sometimes cover Marmolada and the slopes below Passo Padon and Porta Vescovo. The Passo Pordoi cable car above Canazei in Val di Fassa gives access to some of the most challenging off-piste routes in the region. Many of the classic off-piste itineraries require local knowledge so it is essential to hire a guide.
Arabba also boasts several black pistes. Starting just under the Porta Vescovo cable car one of these blacks in particular is a thigh burning top to bottom charge descending over 800m (2625ft).

Freestylers will find a park over in Canazei as well as loads of natural hits popping up all over the place.
