Cervinia and Valtournenche like neighbouring Zermatt have been relatively slow to open up to the sport of mountain biking. However, things are greatly improved with more facilities being offered to mountain bikers of all ages and abilities. There are now specially prepared tracks and skills areas for kids and other beginners where they can get to grips with some of more technical aspects of mountain biking. And the resort has also developed a couple of downhill only courses for freeriders.
The open mountain tracks, forest paths and quiet country lanes have opened up to become part of the XC (cross country) trails network that extends over 2000 vertical meters from valley floor to high mountain tops. Combined with the impressive backdrop of the Matterhorn or Il Cervino as it’s known locally all this adds up to some pretty spectacular mountain biking.
