Sainte Foy, Cycling & Mou...

Sainte Foy is ideally situated for mountain bikers who just love to get out and explore, being that it is at the centre of the Haute Tarentaise Valley. From the doorstep you can access ten marked trails including downhill tracks with descents of more than 1000 vertical meters and cross-country routes pushing the 33 kilometer mark. All this plus some spectacular views!

For those that like to tour, the wider neighbourhood including parts of the Vanoise National Park offer up considerably more options. Les Arcs just across the valley has some excellent biking as does La Rosiere and other easily accessible resorts like Tignes and Val d’Isere. Most of the aforementioned can be reached on bike via a combination of quiet back roads, mountain tracks and footpaths. No juggernaut avoiding required.

In Sainte Foy there is a resident Mountain Bike Centre with instructors who not only offer help and advice but repair services too. Mountain bike instructors can often prove – even if you don’t need a lesson – valuable assets to have around as they tend to know where the best riding is, are usually pretty cute when it comes to fixing bikes and happily are comfortable doubling up as a guide for the day.

The main village of Sainte Foy Tarentaise is also fortunate enough – in certain years – to experience first hand the spectacle that is the Tour de France as it passes through en route. This poses the perfect opportunity to watch others suffer while soaking up the sun and enjoying a cold glass of beer. Salut!
