Val Di Fassa, Italy

Val di Fassa or the Fassa valley comprises of seven resorts in total. The most popular of those is Canazei and Campitello di Fassa. This is mainly due to the fact that they have direct lift links into the famous Sella Ronda circuit. The Sella Ronda is a 26 kilometre route that circumnavigates the Sella Massif. It is followed by skiers and snowboarders in winter and cyclists in summer. It’s not a bad jaunt for runners or walkers either!

All of the villages of the Val di Fassa region are traditional in style and architecture and are set within the most beautiful of surroundings. From each, the mountains of sport on offer are easily accessible however, if it is skiing or snowboarding you are interested in specifically then please note that not all are lift served.

In Fassa the local tongue is Ladin, an ancient romance language that is spoken throughout the region. Although to complicate matters two dialects of this language are spoken in Fassa, the people in the south speaking a different dialect from those in the north. Don’t worry if you don’t speak either though, as the locals won’t mind if you muddle by in Italian or even German and some may even put up with English.

The range of holiday accommodation throughout the valley is excellent with everything from quality hotels, family run guesthouses and bed and breakfasts to stylish apartments and comfortable campsites being offered. And the plentiful accommodation is complimented by an equally plentiful supply of good quality reasonably priced restaurants and pizzerias.
