Adelboden, Switzerland

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Bernese Oberland, lies the picturesque village of Adelboden. Popular with families, the resort has been presented with the “Families Welcome” award by the Swiss Tourist Authority. Various clubs and activities especially for children are organised throughout the year. Parents can drop off the little ones and then escape for some of that very rare, me-time.

Things to do with that me-time include ice skating, curling, skiing and snowboarding in winter and mountain biking, hiking, climbing and horse riding in summer. Adelboden also has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts, a sports hall and an adventure park with high wire courses.

Adelboden is only accessible by road although it is possible to take a train to Frutigen just ten miles down the valley and then catch a bus from there. Once here there is a good choice of accommodation including hotels, chalets and apartments. The village also boasts a descent selection of bars and restaurants for wining and dining away the evenings.
