Germany's Maria Riesch, who came second at the super combined event at Crans-Montana last Sunday, has won the super-G race ahead of Austria's Elisabeth Goergl.

Riesch, who will now claim two crystal globes at the prize day on Saturday March 15th, said that she is "really proud" of herself and "very motivated" for the coming seasons.

She said her priority now is to remain healthy and achieve her potential in the coming winters.

"I tried to have a good run and not make stupid mistakes. I'm pretty satisfied with my run. I have learned a lot in recent winters and this experience will be very important now."

She added: "To get a crystal globe is already big - but two is huge."

On the men's side, Austria's Hannes Reichelt clinched the super-G World Cup title with a single point lead over Switzerland's Didier Cuche.

After the race, Reichelt admitted that he had not given himself more than a five per cent chance of winning the super-G crystal globe.
