The winners of the final FIS event at the weekend were France's Virpi Kuitunen, who also won the overall World Cup, and Vincent Vittoz, also from France.

In the final free technique (10 km handicap), Kuitunen claimed victory in a sprint that put her 0.3 seconds ahead of Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk. Claudia Nystad, from Germany, came third.

Thanks to this victory, Kuitunen won the overall World Cup.

The last competition on the men's side was the 15 km free technique and this was won by Vittoz, who easily beat the Czech Republic's Lukas Bauer into second place.

Italy's' Giorgio di Centa came third.

It was Vittoz's first World Cup victory this season. But it was Bauer who won the overall World Cup, with 1462 points.

Last year, Bauer won the Winter Olympics silver medal for the 15 km cross-country classical.
