Europe's snow conditions 'look good'

The Met Office has confirmed that snow conditions in Europe's ski resorts look very favourable.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, which asked the Met Office for a prediction, snow is expected to fall in Tignes until the weekend and a "bumper snowfall" is expected to cover a large part of the Alps on Friday.

It has already been snowing over the past few days in Tignes, and in other parts of France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

Met Office consultant Neil Bewley told the club that both Austria and France look to benefit the most on Friday. He reckons many resorts will enjoy 25 and 50 cm of the white stuff.

"Other resorts may only get five cm or so, it's hard to say exactly where, that's the difficulty with Alpine forecasts," he added.

Although the winter season peaked in February and early March, ski lifts are expected to remain open for most business at most resorts for at least another five weeks.
