Norway has claimed a double victory at the FIS Junior Cross-Country World Championships in Italy.

On the third day, Norway's Hans Christer Holund claimed victory in the men's race, while Therese Johaug was victorious in the ladies' event.

This year's competition is being held in the Italian resort of Malles after being shifted from Szczyrk, Poland, which is currently snow-free.

Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg, also a Norwegian, came second in the ladies' competition, while Germany's Lucia Anger took bronze.

Canadian Alex Harvey took the men's silver medal, while Germany's Tim Tscharnke came third.

The 2008 FIS Nordic junior world ski championships continues today (Tuesday) and Norway's under-23 team are no doubt hoping to be as successful as their junior teammates.

These championships are designed to help young skiers prepare themselves for the World Cup tour.
