Canadian Chandra Crawford has won the women's free technique sprint competitions at the Lahti Ski Games.

The 2006 Olympic champion finished ahead of Russia's Natalia Matveeva, while Germany's Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle claimed bronze - her first podium win this season.

Crawford won her first World Cup gold medal earlier this year in Canada.

"It feels awesome to win again. I am so relaxed, comfortable, happy and psyched about what this does for our programme," said Crawford.

"For me getting into a pack of girls on skate skis and racing for one kilometre to get to the finish line first is my idea of fun."

On the men's side, 21-year-old Norwegian Anders Gloersen won the free technique sprint competitions, beating Andrew Newell from the US into second place. Fellow Norwegian Ola-Vigen Hattestad came third.

Sunday's success was Gloersen's second career win after a resounding win in Rybinsk, Russia.
