Snow sport enthusiasts who are considering buying a chalet or apartment in the Swiss Alps can be assured that there is plenty to do outside the winter season.

Swiss alpine resorts are working villages and are always buzzing with activity, with mountain biking, climbing, golf and horse riding some of the activities on offer, according to Alpine Property Investments.

For example, thermal spa resorts in places like Ovronnaz are open all year round to cater for people seeking relaxation outside of the peak season.

Steve Thomas, managing director of Alpine Property Investments, said: "Outside of the winter season there is a huge array of things to do, including mountain biking, thousands of kilometres of hiking [and] climbing to test all levels with famous mountains like the Eiger.

He also said that a one-bedroom apartment in the Swiss Alps can be bought for £175,000.

Last December, the new Loetschberg Base Tunnel under the Swiss Alps opened. It runs from Frutigen in the Kander valley to Valais in the south.
